I don't know how I managed before discovering this podcast. Listening to Antrese interview artists about philosophy, struggle, joy, technique, marketing, what have you, has been an absorbing and companionable joy as I paint alone in my studio. I'm pretty sure I've made some better paintings because of this podcast! Thank you Antrese.

I'm so glad I found your podcast. Although I don't know how you have managed to produce so many quality interviews. I'm glad there is a backlog I haven't heard yet so I don't have to wait. I'm sure I'll catch up soon thought, so keep on doing them! I like your style of interviewing, it's obvious you research your guests and I often find that you ask the very question that comes to my mind when I'm listening. Thank you for your hard work and for creating this valuable resource.

Marvelous Alvaro Castagnet Interview

Alvaro was a delight to listen to and he was very generous with Antrese in the variety of topics discussed, natural dialogue sounds liked old friends talking at ease, conversation was most interesting and Antrese asked all the right questions.

I am 63, had no art education and a self taught weaver

I am 63, had no art education while in school and was a self taught weaver for 25 years. I always wanted to paint but my feelings of lack: training, no magical encounter with a mentor etc held me back until about 46! Working and raising children has made me practice somewhat inconsistent but more and more I am grounded in a passion for painting and learning everything I can. This podcast is an amazing gift. I can never catch up to people who grew up with parents who saw and nurtured their talent, or who went to art school and had mentors like Israel Hershberg. Nevertheless, I am so grateful or what I do have. THANK you for these lessons, stories and insights! I feel very nurtured and encouraged. You ask really good questions.

Love Ray Turner Episode 17

Hi. I’m Ziggy Oleary I’m a painter in Las Vegas. I love your podcast, especially #17 with Ray Turner. He was insanely honest and open with his feelings. What an interesting character. I’m so glad you let him just ramble even when his thoughts started going dark, most interviewers would have changed the subject to keep it all light, thank you for letting him just go. It was refreshing to hear someone be real.

What a difference this has made in my life!

Antrese, if you read this, THANK YOU! You have helped me move mountains in regards to my own creative exploration. I started listening to this podcast my junior year of art school and have completely identified with so much of what your guests discuss. I am a huge supporter of and can't wait for the day I can thank you in person. I have approached my canvases and my own mentality towards my paintings in a new light because of this podcast. Much love!

I'm addicted to these podcasts!

I'm addicted to these podcasts and now that I've went through the whole archive, I eagerly watch for each new one. Antrese does a fabulous job of being fully present for each interview and letting the artist's response guide her questioning. She asks thoughtful, interesting questions that illuminate the artist's thinking and process. I enjoy the range of subjects she covers from art practice to business. I've listened to other podcasts on the arts, but this is by far my favorite! Thank you Antrese!

Great Podcast for Artists!!

I discovered this podcast maybe two weeks ago, and I've already binge-listened to every episode! Antrese is an excellent interviewer. She's very smart, insightful, kind and she's somehow able to relate on a meaningful level with every artist she interviews, and these are some drastically different personalities and points of view. I can't wait to find out who Antrese will interview next! She's gotten some amazing, impressive artists so far.

How did I work before Savvy Painter?

I have just come back from painting road trip up the PCH. From the moment I pulled out of the driveway until I pulled back in a week later, I listened to nothing but The Savvy Painter. I couldn't stop. Here is the inspiration you need for whatever artistic blocks you may have. Antrese is a wonderful interviewer. Her warmth, humor and her own personal knowledge of painting leads each and every guest artist to really open up about their personal process, their experiences with the business side of art, their pitfalls, hangups and anxieties. They know they are talking to someone who was been through it as well. Hearing such wonderful discussions - intelligent and thoughtful without ever being stuffy - was exactly the motivation I needed as I pulled into a spot to unload the car and dig into a canvas. I am so happy I found this podcast. And now that I'm home, it's time to dig into SavvyPainter.com. Thanks Antrese!
