Savvy Painter is where you will find your artist community, artist interviews and painting workshops
Love this podcast!
These podcasts are so inspiring and informative! The Tom Wudl episode in particular was fantastic.
Love Ray Turner Episode 17
Hi. I’m Ziggy Oleary I’m a painter in Las Vegas. I love your podcast, especially #17 with Ray Turner. He was insanely honest and open with his feelings. What an interesting character. I’m so glad you let him just ramble even when his thoughts started going dark, most interviewers would have changed the subject to keep it all light, thank you for letting him just go. It was refreshing to hear someone be real.
I continue to enjoy this podcast and the other offerings by Antrese, such as her Facebook artist page. She is a wonderful interviewer and person, which shines through her interviews!
A Wealth of Insight and Information
Thank you so much for this podcast series hearing from other artists is invaluable. The episode with Mitchell Johnson was especially engaging - his wealth of insight and passion for color and painting palpable; and has me starting on some more in-depth color study. Your episode with Gabe Fernandez was also really great, especially hearing of the experiences and interests behind his paintings.
How did I work before Savvy Painter?
I have just come back from painting road trip up the PCH. From the moment I pulled out of the driveway until I pulled back in a week later, I listened to nothing but The Savvy Painter. I couldn't stop. Here is the inspiration you need for whatever artistic blocks you may have. Antrese is a wonderful interviewer. Her warmth, humor and her own personal knowledge of painting leads each and every guest artist to really open up about their personal process, their experiences with the business side of art, their pitfalls, hangups and anxieties. They know they are talking to someone who was been through it as well. Hearing such wonderful discussions - intelligent and thoughtful without ever being stuffy - was exactly the motivation I needed as I pulled into a spot to unload the car and dig into a canvas. I am so happy I found this podcast. And now that I'm home, it's time to dig into SavvyPainter.com. Thanks Antrese!
Very helpful and engaging. Great resource!
I love Antrese’s passion for the business of art, which is so apparent in this podcast. Sharing these insights with others who are interested in breaking into the business of art is so valuable. Great niche!
Genuine...extraordinary person and an amazing interviewer
Antrese is an extraordinary person and an amazing interviewer. She is actually present throughout the entire interview, not just reading questions and waiting for an opening in the conversation so that she can say something. She is very engaged and engaging and her own paintings are beautiful. She asks the questions that I, as an artist would ask the interviewee myself but in a truly curious and very conversational way. She shares some of herself but not too much, it is like listening to a conversation between two extremely interesting and close friends. I recommend this podcast often to friends and fellow artists. Go Antrese!
Great and professional work!
Great podcast to get viewers motivated about art. I am not an artist myself but Antrese Wood makes it easy to listen to and very interesting.
Great Podcast for All
Antrese’s passion shines through. Artists sharing their stories actually provide great principles for all entrepreneurs and business owners. Hear about marketing, promoting, email lists, and more talented and successful people.
Inspiring and entertaining
Wonderfully inspiring podcast featuring great artists, excellent advice, and fascinating stories. Thank you. Antrese, keep up the great work!
Insightful interviews that appeal to artists at any stage of their career
All of my friends are probably sick of hearing about Savvy Painter from me, but I can't stop recommending this show. Every episode is a goldmine, whether the interview is with another artist, a teacher, financial planner, blogger, collector, gallery owner...You name it and Antrese Wood has had a conversation with them. The show is informative AND entertaining. And she's not just rehashing what has already been covered in other interviews or writings. Antrese does her homework and doesn't let her interviewees off the hook and glib answers. The show makes me go back and re-listen to episodes (and take notes) to make sure I didn't miss anything. What a valuable resource!
A must listen for artists!
This is a great resource for artists and all the creative minds out there. The stories of the artists themselves on the show are inspiring for everyone! Highly recommended!
A much needed resource for working artists!
Antrese Wood is an artist I admire greatly. With her at the helm and hosting this conversation, these podcast interviews will not only be informative, interesting and authentic, I know they will be fun too. I cannot wit to tune in and pick up some insights on how other artists work and how they get their artwork out there, seen and SOLD. This is certain to be a much needed resource for working artists and I'm looking forward to becoming a regular listener. Thanks, Antrese!
I've been listening to one episode right after another since I found this podcast.

I don't know how I managed before discovering this podcast. Listening to Antrese interview artists about philosophy, struggle, joy, technique, marketing, what have you, has been an absorbing and companionable joy as I paint alone in my studio. I'm pretty sure I've made some better paintings because of this podcast! Thank you Antrese.
I am a new and very enthusiastic fan of Savvy Painter, I experience so much learning and inspiration from the interviews that Antrese does with an abundance of talented, interesting artists. I love her conversational style and openness. I am engaged and delighted to have this amazing opportunity that she has created with this podcast. Thank you Antrese! Awesome Artist Stimuli
I stumbled across this podcast and what a treasure it's been ! Several of the interviewed artists have been ones I admire (Kathleen Dunphy and Kevin MacPherson - Plein Air artists). The host asks great questions and usually gets great advice for those listening. Even though it is simply audio, a wide array of topics have been covered (drawing, painting, business). It's been fun to listen in on what has to be said about the artists origins, dreams, practices, color choices, and interests. As a young aspiring artist, this podcast is very encouraging and I look forward to sharing with my artist circle of friends. Keep up the great work and keep bringing on those Plein Air artists!!
Perfect Artist Podcast
From tips to plan and organize (Episode 15)...so you get more time for painting to lots of conversations with amazing Artists! Even for this hobby oil painter this show rocks!
Best Art Podcast
As a collector of podcasts this is the best one I have found for art business. Great guests and a comfortable host who sounds like she had been interviewing people for years. Inspiring and informative.

A Life Changer
Wow! I listen to your podcasts while I paint. I love the whole package. The content is so rich, nearly every podcast has me rushing over to my desk to write down a pearl that either affirms something I was feeling in the back of my mind, or sparks a new direction of thought. Oh, I can't tell you how much I appreciate these. You and your guests are contributing something life changing. Thank you!
Thank you, Antrese!
Thanks Antrese Wood -- this is my favorite podcast so far.

Great Show for the Art Industry
As a former Art student….I wish I had this show growing up to help inspire and teach me how to create a business in the Art Industry. Now so many artists will benefit from this show.
So thankful to have see artist Carol Marine mention this series in her blog, and I'm thrilled I took time to check it out. Topics and the interviewees are diverse but very relevant to working artists. Creating art can be a solitary discipline, and listening to the podcasts is a wonderful way to get out fo your little bubble and see how the real world works and how other artists think and create. The other thing I really like is that the podcasts are not too long 🙂 Antrese is great at asking the right questions and pulling out the most important information from her guests.
As a painter herself, Antrese knows what it’s like to be an artist. She’s intimately familiar with the highs and lows of creating, marketing, and selling art. She has walked the tightrope of creating authentic, meaningful work and making a living as an artist.
Antrese inspires tens of thousands of artists every month with her top ranked podcast, and works directly with members of her Growth Studio membership program to guide them past creative doubts and overwhelm, and gives them concrete tips to build the skills they need to create their best work.
