Genuine...extraordinary person and an amazing interviewer

Antrese is an extraordinary person and an amazing interviewer. She is actually present throughout the entire interview, not just reading questions and waiting for an opening in the conversation so that she can say something. She is very engaged and engaging and her own paintings are beautiful. She asks the questions that I, as an artist would ask the interviewee myself but in a truly curious and very conversational way. She shares some of herself but not too much, it is like listening to a conversation between two extremely interesting and close friends. I recommend this podcast often to friends and fellow artists. Go Antrese!

I'm addicted to these podcasts!

I'm addicted to these podcasts and now that I've went through the whole archive, I eagerly watch for each new one. Antrese does a fabulous job of being fully present for each interview and letting the artist's response guide her questioning. She asks thoughtful, interesting questions that illuminate the artist's thinking and process. I enjoy the range of subjects she covers from art practice to business. I've listened to other podcasts on the arts, but this is by far my favorite! Thank you Antrese!

The Podcast that put the focus back on my lack of...look squirrel!

I am so thankful to have discovered the Savvy Painter podcast with Antrese Wood. I was deep into working on a commission and found that I felt my mind was aching for stimulation. This particulate project (wood burning) I was working on bordered more craft than art, but I had to focus and it was painful. THE SAVVY PAINTER PODCAST SAVED MY LIFE! After being privileged to work while listening to TEN or more episodes in a row over two days, I would consider myself an expert on everything savvy. I love the way the show is formatted and Antrese is a gifted listener. She has a tremendous skill for asking questions, keeping conversation light and managing content of a wide variety from several dynamic artists. I feel like I was getting so much done as I burned wood sitting on my yoga ball. I LIVED! I feel great. Thanks, Antrese! I feel like my world has opened up. I'm encouraged and inspired.

I love the Savvy Painter!

I feel SO good and inspired after listening to the interviews on the savvypainter.com. I am a painter and often feel really alone navigating the many challenges of being a full-time artist and running my own business. Most people can't relate and or don't take me seriously. It is so wonderful listening to a podcast by a painter for painters. I feel so connected listening to the interviewer with contemporary artists, who open up and describe their struggles and challenges, as well as, where they have found success. The business of art is discussed, as is education, tips, and techniques, ups and downs, the meaning of art, why we create, inspiration...Everything. Wherever you are at in your career, there is something of value and interest to be heard on the Savvy Painter. To my fellow painters, I can't recommend this enough. To everyone else, the show is a glimpse into the lives of artists and is very worthy of your time.

Artists who share their pragmatic as well as visionary sides

Great questions. Artists who share their pragmatic as well as visionary sides. It's such a generous contribution to the sometimes-solitary world of an artist, and I'm soaking up all I can, learning more each episode. Thank you, Antrese, for such a wonderful asset that also brings gift after gift of "Yes! I needed to hear that!"

I have regularly listened to over 10 different art podcasts...

I have regularly listened to over 10 different art/artist-related podcasts over the last year or so during my long commute from home to school, and this is definitely one of my favorites! Antrese Wood provides casual yet structured conversations with artists, art manufacturers, gallery owners, etc. to get to the root of what they do and what they have been through. Try out a few episodes and let us know what you think! 🙂

A HUGE help to me!

☆☆☆☆☆

“I love listening to this show. It’s one of the few that, if my podcast player keeps giving me more episodes of it in a row, I don’t mind a bit. It is exactly what I need to learn to believe in my own creativity.

I'm so glad I found your podcast. Although I don't know how you have managed to produce so many quality interviews. I'm glad there is a backlog I haven't heard yet so I don't have to wait. I'm sure I'll catch up soon thought, so keep on doing them! I like your style of interviewing, it's obvious you research your guests and I often find that you ask the very question that comes to my mind when I'm listening. So motivating!

I've been listening to Antrese Wood's Savvy Painter Podcast during my commutes and I love them! She is an excellent interviewer who seems to know exactly what I would ask and she follows through on all the intriguing details that come up. I love the people she is finding to interview and have learned so much from each podcast- both on the business side of being an artist, and also on the process and mental sides. How validating to find out that my struggles are so similar to those of artists I really admire and respect!

Not just for painters

I am a visual artist but not a painter. In fact, at first I hesitated to listen to it thinking it would be only about painting. What I found though is that title of the show is a bit of a misnomer because it's not really about painting at all. It is really about the reasons we make are and what it means to be a professional artist. I know that Antrese is a painter but I think that she could easily interview artists from other mediums and be completely at home because for the most part the goals and questions are the same regardless of what you make. This is totally worth a listen and a re-listen.

The podcast is a wonderful resource for artists (and wanna be artists) to learn more about other people's process, live and techniques. Thank you for this, a great idea you've wonderfully brought to life!

Savvy Painter is the best podcast for artists

Hands-down, this is the best podcast for artists. The guests are successful artists with a lot to say. Better yet, it's obvious that Antrese has studied their work and career before she starts the interview. This enables her to interact with them in a thoughtful, articulate, and meaningful way. This podcast will make you think about how and why you make art, and about how you want to promote your art career.
