Savvy Painter

Savvy Painter was the best find on the web. I find it very very interesting and fun to listen to the interviews. Antrese is a very talented interviewer and I have grown to look forward to each new show. I also enjoy listening to past shows over and over again.

Immensely helpful and informative

So many of use who make/do art...do it alone. This is a great chance to hear from others about their failures and successes that have allowed them to grow and prosper. Some of the interviews answer important questions that I didn't even know I wanted to ask. Thank you for the variety of people you interview. And thank you for the follow-up info regarding the artists mentioned. I am a better artist because of this podcast.

More More More of THIS!!!

Just listened to Kathleen Dunphy interview and was absolutely riveted to every world. Just invaluable to me. I took away so many great tips on how to persevere, how to follow what you WANT. Antrese moves the conversation through in a natural way. You are sitting there feeling so lucky to be hearing all of this great advice. It's all the better knowing Antrese and respecting her work and journey...she can relate to the wonderful people she is interviewing and so that lends a lot to it. These are life and soul saving talks that are keeping me walking that line with my head high. I've listened to a lot of these kinds of things, but I'm a huge fab already...heard two and on to the rest and so happy to know there will be more!!!

I am 63, had no art education and a self taught weaver

I am 63, had no art education while in school and was a self taught weaver for 25 years. I always wanted to paint but my feelings of lack: training, no magical encounter with a mentor etc held me back until about 46! Working and raising children has made me practice somewhat inconsistent but more and more I am grounded in a passion for painting and learning everything I can. This podcast is an amazing gift. I can never catch up to people who grew up with parents who saw and nurtured their talent, or who went to art school and had mentors like Israel Hershberg. Nevertheless, I am so grateful or what I do have. THANK you for these lessons, stories and insights! I feel very nurtured and encouraged. You ask really good questions.

Savvy Painter is the best podcast for artists

Hands-down, this is the best podcast for artists. The guests are successful artists with a lot to say. Better yet, it's obvious that Antrese has studied their work and career before she starts the interview. This enables her to interact with them in a thoughtful, articulate, and meaningful way. This podcast will make you think about how and why you make art, and about how you want to promote your art career.

A HUGE help to me!

☆☆☆☆☆

I love listening to this show. It’s one of the few that, if my podcast player keeps giving me more episodes of it in a row, I don’t mind a bit. It is exactly what I need to learn to believe in my own creativity.

Enjoyable and informative!

I'm so glad I found your podcast. Although I don't know how you have managed to produce so many quality interviews. I'm glad there is a backlog I haven't heard yet so I don't have to wait. I'm sure I'll catch up soon thought, so keep on doing them! I like your style of interviewing, it's obvious you research your guests and I often find that you ask the very question that comes to my mind when I'm listening. Thank you for your hard work and for creating this valuable resource.

What a difference this has made in my life!

Antrese, if you read this, THANK YOU! You have helped me move mountains in regards to my own creative exploration. I started listening to this podcast my junior year of art school and have completely identified with so much of what your guests discuss. I am a huge supporter of and can't wait for the day I can thank you in person. I have approached my canvases and my own mentality towards my paintings in a new light because of this podcast. Much love!

So motivating!

I've been listening to Antrese Wood's Savvy Painter Podcast during my commutes and I love them! She is an excellent interviewer who seems to know exactly what I would ask and she follows through on all the intriguing details that come up. I love the people she is finding to interview and have learned so much from each podcast- both on the business side of being an artist, and also on the process and mental sides. How validating to find out that my struggles are so similar to those of artists I really admire and respect!

Reminding me to paint with my soul..

I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your interview on the Savvy Painter. Thank you for reminding me to paint with my soul and not be so wrapped up in technique. The paintings that I have enjoyed painting the most are the ones that I get lost in and they paint themselves without thinking about technique.

A gift!

This podcast is a gift for artists. As a painter, I spend a lot of time alone in my studio. Listening to Antrese is like talking shop with the professionals any time I need inspiration. It's great to hear other artists going through similar challenges, sharing ideas, and discussing the subjects that would otherwise just be random thoughts in my head. Antrese unpacks these ideas and gives listeners a lot to chew on. I had the honor of meeting Antrese at her plein air workshop in March of 2015. She's a delight. A great listener and artist, passionate about painting, and cares about the art community. Her podcast brings this community closer. Thank you for this great service!

Just great

Antrese helps with my windshield time fly by with inspirational guests. Finally an art podcast that isn't a lecture series. Keep up the good work!

Not just for painters

I am a visual artist but not a painter. In fact, at first I hesitated to listen to it thinking it would be only about painting. What I found though is that title of the show is a bit of a misnomer because it's not really about painting at all. It is really about the reasons we make are and what it means to be a professional artist. I know that Antrese is a painter but I think that she could easily interview artists from other mediums and be completely at home because for the most part the goals and questions are the same regardless of what you make. This is totally worth a listen and a re-listen.

Thank you!

I don't know how I managed before discovering this podcast. Listening to Antrese interview artists about philosophy, struggle, joy, technique, marketing, what have you, has been an absorbing and companionable joy as I paint alone in my studio. I'm pretty sure I've made some better paintings because of this podcast! Thank you Antrese.

A Wealth of Insight and Information

Thank you so much for this podcast series hearing from other artists is invaluable. The episode with Mitchell Johnson was especially engaging - his wealth of insight and passion for color and painting palpable; and has me starting on some more in-depth color study. Your episode with Gabe Fernandez was also really great, especially hearing of the experiences and interests behind his paintings.

FABULOUS! Jam packed with information, fun to listen to

I have been waiting for a podcast like this for such a long time and it is FABULOUS! Jam packed with information, fun to listen to. Antrese's voice is soothing, and the information is motivational. I listen to it while painting, and relisten while watching the dog because I know that I missed some information. The episode with "get it done" author Sam Bennett was really uplifting.

As a painter herself, Antrese knows what it’s like to be an artist. She’s intimately familiar with the highs and lows of creating, marketing, and selling art. She has walked the tightrope of creating authentic, meaningful work and making a living as an artist.

Antrese inspires tens of thousands of artists every month with her top ranked podcast, and works directly with members of her Growth Studio membership program to guide them past creative doubts and overwhelm, and gives them concrete tips to build the skills they need to create their best work.
