Alvaro Castagnet

A few weeks ago, I sat on the floor of a packed room at the Plein Air Convention in Monterey, California.

Alvaro Castagnet was giving a demo (video here). I was familiar with Alvaro’s watercolors but I had never heard him speak.

I had no idea what was coming.

Alvaro is as passionate about art as he is talented. He’d be the first to tell you that talent alone is not enough to make a masterpiece. To create a masterpiece, to be a true artist, you need to put your soul into it. There are not shortcuts; no formulas.
